... fiction is the way to go, even if it may/will produce trashy results.
- have been to the movie theatre for the third time in the last three days: colma.. is amazing. (genuine.) shot on video - great directing and nice songs. the brave one seemed to convey a sick moral message -but surprisingly not seen anything complaining of that side in the reviews- . in to the wild is a good movie, hitting you on the right spot. manufactured landscapes is probably gonna be the next one.
- revisiting mdotstrange's work is obsessively soothing. and almnost every day celine and julie go boating blog is full of interesting news on new and old cinema. i wonder about that movie LIFE IS SHORT 2. nasil bir film acaba, read that with some scenes it is reminiscent of miranda july's last film which i liked quiet a lot except some parts/dialogs -like the one with a fish in a plastic bag -.
- ... i still wanna mention about weerasethakul's movie, syndromes and a century. it, somehow looks/feels so contemporary, as if springing out from the middle as the soul of 00 years, of this decade. but so timeless/classical since it s coming from the heart of now, i guess.
- maybe i m becoming a "true" cinephile that it's not happening without a cost,.. after seeing so many good movies, my cherished top 10 movies list soluklasiyor. or a different light is replacing sometime, the diffusing one. remembering the last chrysanthemums from mizoguchi, i feel mesmerized, and maybe even more with his ugetsu monogatari. ozu's banshun was nice to watch, last friday night, but after all i am kind of immune to ozu maybe, it was, just, very good. still, tokyo story and early summer are perhaps the two i cherish more.
- lists of movies (reminiscent), maps of imaginary countries (z), i ve thought of putting together a list of scenes where a song is sung or lipsynched in a movie,.. i wont, except providing the three that made me think such a list is possible : cria cuervos, porque te vas. (such a sad movie, sadness of kids, childhood; i also like another seen from this movie a lot, where the grandma of the house and Ana are "talking" in front of the photos on the wall.) cha no aji, yama yo. (recently seen that one, such a funny and lovely movie, cha no aji.) and one of my all time favorite scenes, it was great to find it on youtube after more than a year. (it's no surprise to me the only scene from that movie available on youtube is that one.) dong, calypso (by ge lan). i can't really tell why i like this scene so much, nothing in visuals look particularly familiar. not just about the sound for sure.
- i ll go watch the calypso scene again...
